File Renamer 1.2.6.0 - Review and Antivirus Report
Just a couple of links for independent 3rd party sites that host, test and make sure my freeware is secure to install and use. Among those you can check the very well known Softpedia.com and also the Downloa3K.com. You can go to either of those and read the full, unbiased security and virus report about this great 'File Renamer' freeware.

They test all uploaded and hosted software for virus by using five different antivirus software to go trough it and then publish an Antivirus Report:

They state - and I'm quoting - that... "File Renamer 1.2.6.0 is 100% CLEAN, which means it does not contain any form of malware, including spyware, viruses, trojans and backdoors". Safe, heee? smile

'Wv player' free multimedia player update - 1.2.4.0
story image icon img Freeware multimedia player, 'Wav player', has been updated up to version 1.2.4.0.

Update includes changing all references from webXpace to MoldPlast as this is the "new" home of all my FREware now. Emails, checking for new versions, links to webpages on software and help file. smile

Also, there was a but on some instances just after running a playlist that it would show a Windows error when exiting afterwards. Not critical but annoying nevertheless. Not anymore. And last but not least, it works just fine on Windows 11© as it always has!

As always, all new versions of this and every other freeware can be freely downloaded from the freeware webpage, where all my freeware is located.

'ToDo Reminder' freeware update - 1.2.1.0
story image icon img 'ToDo Reminder ' freeware has had a few more updates and is now at version 1.2.1.0.

Just a few checks, some internal details changed, making sure it is full Windows 11© compliant - it was already but now it is even better. smile

Also, I noticed this software didn't yet have a full HELP file with it - such an oversight distraction from my part! It now features a brand new one too, with all the tips, explanations, full features and.. well.. help that you may need.

I use this software every single day myself and have been using it for the past 27 years, as it really is unobtrusive, being small and quite fast, and does reminds me of everything I have to do in an easy and simple way!

It supports an archive for 'done' tasks, different colors for each task to enhance the view, priorities, categories, alarms, all the bells and whistles you - and myself, obviously - need for all daily use, but in such a small portable free package!

As always, all the freeware can be downloaded from the freeware page. Keep sending your suggestions, ideas and... *knocks on wood* bugs!

Recycling: producers deceived public forever
story image
Plastic's raw material producers, some of the largest companies in the world, have known for more than 60 years that recycling is not an economically or technically feasible plastic waste management solution. That has not stopped them from promoting it, according to several reports and insider information.

Plastic, which is made from oil and gas, is notoriously difficult to recycle. Doing so requires meticulous sorting, since most of the thousands of chemically distinct varieties of plastic cannot be recycled together. That renders an already pricey process even more expensive. Another challenge: the material degrades each time it is reused, meaning it can generally only be reused once or twice at most, before losing it's properties.

The industry has known this for decades, but obscured the information in its marketing campaigns. Over the past several decades, industry companies have referred to plastic recycling as "uneconomical" and that it "cannot be considered a permanent solid waste solution".

In the 1950s, plastic producers came up with an idea to ensure a continually growing market for their products: disposability. They knew if they focused on single-use plastics, people would buy and buy and buy! In the 50's, the Society of the Plastics Industry told producers to focus on "low cost, big volume" and "expendability".

Over the following decades, the industry told the public that plastics can easily be tossed into landfills or burned in garbage incinerators.

More recently, one big company confirmed that: "We are committed to the activities [of plastics recycling], but not committed to the results".

The new Windows 11 computer
Just out of curiosity, the new computer mentioned bellow came to replace my 17 year old machine that was getting slow in spite of it's I7 4.core Intel CPU and a nice Nvidia graphic card. Nevertheless, what works now is a Beelink Ser8 mini-pc!

Mini-pcs are a curious "thing"... They are very powerful, need very little space, use 1/10 of the energy of a desktop pc and are much, mush cheaper in the end! You just have to be careful and get a good brand machine.. smile

Beelink SER 8Beelink SER 8

Also they have more than enough ports to assure every need you may have. And.. this one is upgradable to 2x 4Tb SSD disks and up to 256Gb DDR5 memory! The processor is an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS and the graphic card is an AMD Radeon 780M. Plus 24 Gb of DDR5 memory and a 1Tb Crucial SSD disk included. Amazing how much they managed to pack inside such a small 135x135x44.7 mm box. And it stays cold all the time!

And all this for much less than 550 euro, isn't it amazing?

Now..... Let's just hope this one will also carry me for the next 17 years too! wink
